Free Workshop on Wicked Problems with Matt Thorne

In my recent work in Chennai , India, with Drs Rob Long and Nippin Anand, we postulated several critical questions in our Leadership workshops: What is Methodology?, What is Leadership? and Are We Learning From Accidents? And more. https://safetyrisk.net/are-we-learning-from-accidents-book-review/

But the context we were presenting this to, was safety.

When you look at Leadership Methodology and Methods in Safety, the overwhelming standpoint is Zero Harm, as promoted by the International Labour Organisation (ILO). https://visionzero.global

The ILO has set an impossible task. People will die and be injured on the job, and we cannot deny that it will happen.

No one wants it to happen, and the usual rebuttal is ‘how many people do you want to die today?’ This is an asinine question and says more of the person asking the question that the recipient.

So we now have a Wicked Problem (as discussed and researched with  Dr Craig Ashhurst )

How does one ‘solve’ a Wicked Problem?

You don’t and can’t!

At best you can ‘tackle’ it, because there is no solution (https://safetyrisk.net/no-taming-or-fixing-wicked-problems/). There is not outcome point, this issue will continue for as long as we can see.

Matt Thorne from Risk Diversity will holding a Free 1 hour session on Wicked Problems on Thursday 2nd June  5pm Australian Central Standard time. If you wish to be a part of this free 1 hour workshop you can register here: [email protected]
